The history of citrus fruits in Sicily stretches back to the ancient times when the Arabs first brought them to the island (850 A.D.).Thanks to its Mediterranean climate and nutrient-rich volcanic soils, Sicily became an ideal location for cultivating lemons and oranges which straightaway became a symbol of wealth and abundance.
