The “Opera dei Pupi” is a special puppet theatre that became popular in southern Italy, particularly in Sicily, in the early 1800s. It is the theatrical representation of the poem of medieval French literature Orlando Furioso, of the clashes between knights and Moors, in which the puppets are the expression and symbol of the desire for redemption and justice of a social class.
